This review is part of a larger series of LinkedIn newsletters titled AI in Market Research: Reviews of AI tools, platforms, and solutions that market researchers should use today.

codeit is a versatile tool we regularly use at Cascade Insights to analyze open-ends from surveys.

For example, we’ve recently used it to analyze open-ends from several brand research efforts and surveys that asked users how a given AI integration might help them in their daily workflows.

Finally, codeit is AI-powered, which is always a plus for us.

Visual and Interactive Analysis

Codeit’s analysis features allow researchers to interact with a dataset visually.

Whether you’re looking at sentiment analysis or cross-tabulated data, the tool provides a solid interface that makes it straightforward to dig deep into a set of open ends, etc.

The analysis tools in codeit also make it straightforward to extract supporting evidence, summarize themes, etc.

You can also generate reports for slides, written reports, etc.

The analysis dashboard also makes it easy to see how much of your data has been coded and analyzed and gives you an in-depth analysis of specific themes and codes.

AI-Driven Insights:

Codeit’s AI-driven analysis tools are where it truly excels. Market researchers can quickly analyze qualitative data, allowing for the rapid identification of critical insights.

Also, Codeit makes the overall research process much more efficient. As a firm owner, I appreciate this, as codeit leads to a faster time to insights, less time spent on tasks that an AI can tackle more efficiently than a human, etc.

AI Specific Callouts

Codeit’s AI tools can assist in analyzing sentiment, providing thematic breakdowns, etc.

CodeIt also makes it relatively straightforward for a researcher to review AI-generated codes and themes and make adjustments as necessary.

You can also set “guardrails” for the AI integration, such as:

  • Setting the text matching frequency for training.
  • Setting auto-coding thresholds – in terms of maximum confidence levels before the AI considers something a match.

Overall, the AI integration in codeit is a huge jumpstart for any coding effort.

So here’s my review:

  • Usability = Four and 1/2 Stars. Overall everything is solid. However, UI elements are sometimes moving around a bit, due to what I can only assume is a rapid development loop under the covers to integrate AI based approaches, etc.
  • Power = Five Stars
  • Flexibility = Five Stars
  • Cost = Four Stars. My only gripe is that it’s a annual contract. In a world of every changing SaaS solutions, you do like to keep your options open. And 1 year “lock-in” isn’t something I appreciate – for any SaaS solution.
