A B2B Team’s Review: ElevenLabs

ElevenLabs launched in 2022 as a text-to-speech company. Today one account covers creative audio tools (ElevenCreative), a voice-agent platform that answers and places calls (ElevenAgents), and developer access to the underlying models (ElevenAPI).

The timing of this review is deliberate. On September 28, 2026, ElevenLabs released Eleven v4 and v4 Turbo. The company says both cover more than 90 languages and can clone a voice from about 10 seconds of audio. Turbo, built for live calls, starts speaking in roughly 150 milliseconds by ElevenLabs’ own measurement.

For a B2B team, this is a marketing and operations tool first. Everyone else should read the fine print before signing up.

What It Does Well

Voice quality you can put in front of buyers: Eleven v4 took first place on the Artificial Analysis voice leaderboard for September 2026, and ElevenLabs reports that about 75% of listeners preferred it in blind tests. Those are launch-week numbers, partly vendor-run. Independent reviewers were already calling the gap over Amazon Polly and Google’s voices audible within seconds on v3.

One account for most audio work: Voiceover, cloning, the Studio long-form editor, Dubbing v2, Scribe v2 transcription and music all draw from one credit pool and one API. Dubbing v2 translates into 90+ languages while keeping the original speaker’s pacing and emotion. Generated music comes commercially licensed.

Agents wired into the systems behind the call: ElevenAgents can look up a caller in Salesforce or HubSpot and open a ticket mid-conversation. September’s changelog added call queueing with hold audio and answering machine detection. That is contact-center plumbing, and it shows where the company is spending.

How Each Role Puts It to Work

  • The Marketer: Take a finished demo script and have a narrated video by the end of the day. Then run the English webinar through Dubbing and ship a German version without booking a studio. A Professional Voice Clone of your spokesperson keeps every asset sounding like the same person, once that person has signed a written consent.
  • The Operations person: Stand up an after-hours support line that verifies the caller in HubSpot and opens a Zendesk ticket with the transcript attached. Run it through the built-in testing tools before it takes live traffic, and expect to tune its instructions for a while.
  • The Salesperson: Use batch calling for first-touch qualification on last month’s inbound leads, with answers written back to the CRM. Someone still owns what the agent says about pricing. US calling-consent rules apply to AI dialers too, so get legal sign-off before the first campaign.
  • Weaker fits: Researchers get strong transcription from Scribe v2, with speaker labels and custom keyterms. But self-serve plans reportedly use customer audio to improve models by default, so client interviews belong only on an Enterprise contract with training switched off. HR can narrate onboarding modules the way marketers do, which helps L&D and nothing more. There is nothing here for Finance.

Where It Could Be Better

Credits are hard to forecast. Failed generations and retries still burn them, and several reviewers report real costs running two to three times what the pricing page implies.

Support draws the most complaints. ElevenLabs sits at 3.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot across more than 1,000 reviews, with slow responses a recurring theme.

Long-form consistency has been shaky. Users of v3 reported accents drifting inside a single generation. ElevenLabs says v4 handles long content more reliably. We would test that on your own scripts first.

The controls a legal team will ask for (training off by default, Zero Retention Mode, regional data residency, a HIPAA BAA) sit on the Enterprise tier, which means a sales call. The native HubSpot integration only supports US-hosted accounts for now. And the v4 launch discount on the API ends in mid-October, so budget against list price.

Why Not Just Use ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude?

General models talk now, and OpenAI and Google both sell text-to-speech APIs. For a quick read-aloud of a memo, the assistant you already pay for is enough.

ElevenLabs earns its place with packaged workflows the assistants don’t offer: professional voice clones, a long-form editor, dubbing with lip-sync and phone-ready agents with CRM hooks. It trains its own speech models, so this is no wrapper. Its agents also let you pick Claude, GPT, Gemini or a custom LLM as the reasoning layer. ElevenLabs is the voice. The thinking is often someone else’s model.

Security & Compliance

ElevenLabs states SOC 2, GDPR and CCPA compliance, encryption in transit and at rest, and EU data residency. HIPAA coverage requires a signed BAA and is tied to ElevenAgents on Enterprise with Zero Retention Mode enabled. SSO supports SAML and OIDC, and workspaces have Viewer, Editor and Admin roles.

Read the details. Zero Retention Mode is set per request and does not cover voice cloning, so one missed parameter sends data into normal retention. The data processing agreement also lets ElevenLabs’ safety team access data from outside your chosen region.

Ask the vendor whether admin actions land in an exportable audit log, and get the training default for your plan in writing. Voiceprints count as biometric data under laws like Illinois BIPA, so cloning an employee’s voice needs its own signed release.

Data & AI Connectivity

Native agent integrations cover Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, ServiceNow, Jira, Slack, Twilio, Calendly and Cal.com. Agents deploy to phone, WhatsApp and web chat, and reach other systems through webhooks or MCP servers. Since August, a hosted ElevenLabs MCP server lets an assistant like Claude call ElevenLabs directly. Official SDKs ship for Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.

The creative side is more closed. We didn’t find native Google Drive or SharePoint connectors, and Studio works from uploaded files and URLs.

Ratings

DimensionRatingRationale
Usability4.3 / 5Voiceover and dubbing work in minutes, but agents need real configuration and testing before they touch customers.
Power4.7 / 5Voice quality leads the category, and the agent tooling now covers call-center basics.
Flexibility4.1 / 5Broad across go-to-market and support work, conditional for research, and absent for finance or people decisions.
Cost3.4 / 5Entry plans are cheap, but credit burn is unpredictable and governance controls require Enterprise pricing.

Best-Fit Roles

Strongest for Marketing and Operations, with Sales close behind. Research only on an Enterprise contract. Light for HR, nothing for Finance.

Conclusion

ElevenLabs is the voice platform to beat for B2B teams producing audio or putting agents on the phone, and v4 widens that lead on paper. Trust it with delivery. Keep a person responsible for the script and for anything an agent says about price or terms.
