AI Tool Review: Adapt

This review is part of a larger series of LinkedIn newsletters titled The Human Side of AI: Cutting through the AI noise to show you how AI can be a powerful tool for your creativity, efficiency, and strategy.

Adapt calls itself “the integrated coworker.” It is a shared AI agent that lives in Slack, connects to a company’s stack, and answers questions or takes actions from inside a thread. Tag @Adapt, ask about pipeline or churn or last quarter’s closed-lost deals, and it queries connected systems and returns an answer with cited sources.

For a market researcher, the framing matters. Adapt is built for the internal-data side of the job. The qualitative craft at the center of research sits mostly outside what it does.

Key strengths

First-party data queries with citations

Adapt joins data across connected systems without anyone writing SQL, then returns answers that point back to source records. For an in-house insights team, that covers a real slice of desk research: win rates by segment, or the reasons behind a run of closed-lost accounts. Answers cite where they came from, which helps when a finding has to survive a stakeholder’s follow-up question.

Standing reports on a schedule

Recurring rollups are where Adapt earns its keep. It posts a weekly pipeline summary or the quarterly report that always eats a Friday straight to the Slack channels a team already watches, on a schedule nobody has to remember to trigger. A research ops function can hand off the reports it rebuilds by hand every cycle and get that time back for analysis.

A shared agent for the whole team

Most AI in Slack is individual-first, and Claude or ChatGPT there behave like a personal assistant that happens to live at work. Adapt runs as a shared agent instead, so anyone in a thread can pick up a request and push it further against the same context. For a research team fielding repetitive data questions from the wider business, that turns a stream of one-off asks into something the whole group can self-serve.

Where it could improve

Adapt is not a qualitative-analysis tool, and a researcher should be clear-eyed about that before wiring it in. It does not code transcripts across a study, tag themes with supporting quotes, pressure-test a questionnaire, or categorize open-ends. Its whole model is connecting to a company’s live systems, so confidential client interviews that live in files rather than operational systems usually sit outside its lane. For that work, NotebookLM or Claude remain the better home.

Two more cautions. The security posture is strong on paper (SOC 2 Type II, no training on customer data, US hosting), but Adapt reads and writes to live systems, and role-based permissions are still listed as coming soon. And usage-based billing, at a cent per credit, gets hard to forecast once analytical queries pile up.

Ratings

DimensionRatingRationale
Usability4.0 / 5Slack-native with fast OAuth setup and no SQL, though the payoff depends on wiring up the full stack first.
Power3.0 / 5Deep on internal-data querying and automation, shallow on the qualitative analysis that anchors research work.
Flexibility3.0 / 5Wide across the systems it connects to, but thin on the rest of the research workflow.
Cost3.5 / 5A free Starter tier, real credit bonuses, and unlimited seats are generous, but usage-based billing turns unpredictable at volume.

Conclusion

Adapt is a capable company-brain for the internal-data and reporting slice of research, and a real option for teams drowning in ad-hoc stakeholder questions. Aimed there, at first-party data and the reports a team rebuilds every cycle, it saves real time. It is still the wrong tool for a stack of confidential interviews, and no amount of setup changes that. Which questions belong in Adapt is a judgment call, and it stays with the researcher.
